“RIVERSTONE’S OFFICE PREVIOUSLY LACKED CASUAL AREAS. They had formal
meeting rooms but no zones where employees could build relationships or
socialize,” explains Knoll. “We included an open pantry with a sizable communal table placed right off of the elevator lobby. It’s an area that everyone naturally walks through rather than having to seek out. It’s also adjacent to a large
conference room to double as a breakout area or food service.”
Circulation had already been an issue between the original 1.5 floors, but this new
interconnecting staircase allows employees to move easily between the expanded
2.5 floors. Finding the right location for the stairs was one of the more challenging
elements of this design given the building’s small floorplate, notes Knoll.
